Abstract
Eucharia Donnery shares her experiences of being a female in a male-oriented department at her university. She takes us on a journey from her academic background in literature to the challenging environment of a technical school and the impact of gender on both teachers and students.
About the Contributor
Eucharia Donnery (PhD) has been in Japan for over 20 years, initially teaching on the JET Program (1998-2001), then learning on the Monbusho Scholarship Program (2002-2004). Since then, she has taught at five universities across Japan and is currently a Lecturer in the Department of Computer Sciences at Shonan Institute of Technology. There, she teaches communication strategies, brand marketing strategies, and presentation skills. She offers project-based learning workshops and seminars for students from first year to fourth year who are interested in intercultural communicative competences (ICC) through blending drama-based activities with computer assisted language learning (CALL) technology. Other interests include reading, running, and Muay Thai kickboxing.
