This chapter will focus on analysing the use of conversation strategies by speakers of English as a second language and users of English as a lingua franca. To do so, it will mainly draw upon data from two corpora: The UCLan Speaking Test Corpus (USTC), which contains data from learners who successfully passed speaking tests at CEFR B1–C1 levels (Jones et al., 2018) and VOICE 2.0 Online (VOICE, 2013), which contains conversations from users of English as a lingua franca.
