Chapter 8. Work-Related Struggles as Transnational and Multilingual Language Teachers
Risa Ikeda
Abstract
In this chapter, the contributing authors of this book share the personal challenges they have faced across various work contexts. While the primary focus is on their experiences as teachers, the discussion extends to non-teaching jobs as some have had extensive work experiences. The aim of this chapter is to offer readers a deeper understanding of the lived experiences of transnational and multilingual language teachers as they navigate both personal and systemic challenges in different professional contexts. The co-constructed narratives in this chapter are based on and are representative of the contributing authors’ real-life experiences as English language teachers and workers in different Japanese contexts.
