Annual News Bulletin
Season's greetings from Candlin & Mynard!
Thank you for your continued support of our small publishing company. This means a lot to all of us involved.
Firstly, some sad news. As you may have seen on my blog, our senior advisor of 10 years, Dr. Sally Candlin, died on 9th December. Sally has been a supporter of the press since the death of her husband, our co-founder, Dr. Christopher Candlin, in 2015. Sally was a highly respected scholar in professional and healthcare communication. I feel so privileged to have worked with both Sally and Chris, and both have helped shape the company in numerous ways. I miss them both deeply. You can read more about their contributions and expertise here.
Onto more positive news. In December 2025, I invited Chris and Sally's daughter, Angharad Candlin, to step into the role of Senior Advisor, and she graciously accepted! Angharad is a specialist in psychology and linguistics with experience in child development, domestic violence, child protection, trauma-responsive practice, resilience, and family wellbeing. She has already given advice on a book proposal we received related to teacher resilience (more about that later in the year). Welcome to the team, Angharad! We look forward to your regular blog posts about the nuances of language in life.
And with more good news, we published six books in 2025, and we have several new titles in the works for 2026. Please scroll down for details. Congratulations to all the authors, editors, reviewers, and editorial team members. I feel proud to have helped to launch some truly original and inspiring work into the world.
Finally, thank you for buying our books and supporting the sustainability of independent publishing. Our promise is to make our publications timely, affordable, and accessible. We do this by publishing reasonably priced books in print and ebook formats and making them available via subscription services and libraries. If you are in a position to request books for your libraries or add our titles to reading lists for courses you teach, please do so, as this will help us continue to serve the academic community through our publications.
Another way you can help us continue to offer affordable and accessible books is to take advantage of our open-access opportunities if you have access to research funding. Open access will ensure that your book (or chapter) is widely shared and cited. In addition, it helps us cover our costs and continue publishing affordable books. Open-access books and chapters undergo the same peer-review process and editorial care as all of our other books. For more details, please see this page.
Please continue reading about recent releases and details of how to publish with us.
